Dear NAMI GLAC Members,

Late last night, legislative language was released, and we finally know the details of the proposal to cut Medicaid.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee released text for their portion of a larger budget bill, proposing to cut at least $715 billion in federal funding for Medicaid over the next 10 years as part of the budget reconciliation process.

Earlier today, NAMI released this statement to news organizations. Tomorrow, 15 NAMI state executive directors will meet with members of Congress to push back on these dangerous Medicaid cuts.

We need your help to spread the word and advocate – it is more important now than ever.

Take action now by contacting your members of Congress to tell them these changes would be devastating to people with mental illness and the mental health infrastructure that relies so heavily on Medicaid dollars.
