WHO IS LARCA?

LARCA is a new, nonprofit membership association for Los Angeles County-based owners and operators of Adult Residential Facilities and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, formed with fiscal sponsorship from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Greater Los Angeles Chapter (NAMI GLAC) and financial support from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.  The process of establishing the Association commenced in August 2021, with a goal to develop LARCA into a fully-independent, nonprofit entity within two years.

With an emphasis on serving the population of owners and operators of Adult Residential Facilities (ARFs) and Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFEs) with residents who are reliant on public benefits and/or living with serious mental illness, LARCA will advocate to enhance the capability and sustainability of all facilities to continue to fill a critical need in our Los Angeles County continuum of services for many of those who are otherwise at serious risk of experiencing homelessness.

NAMI GLAC has brought together a coalition of partners, facility owners, and nonprofit leaders to help launch LARCA, including the organizing of an inclusive membership base from across L.A. County ARFs & RCFEs, recruitment of an Executive Director and staff to provide advocacy, training, and program services, conducting member elections for the LARCA Board of Directors, and research and development of comprehensive program and service offerings to maximize LARCA member benefits.
